Maxwell Institute Podcast #128: Joseph Smith Papers, Documents Volume 12

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have taken the Lord’s call to “have a record kept among [them]” since the commandment was given in the first days of the Church. One of the ways that the Church accomplishes this is through the Joseph Smith Papers Project. In this episode, we will hear from Robin Scott Jensen, David Grua, and Jessica Nelson about the work of the Joseph Smith Papers Project, what was going on during Joseph Smith’s life in March-July 1843 (including the reception of what was later canonized as Doctrine and Covenants 132), and much more!

MI Podcast #126: Becoming a people of the Books

How did early Latter-day Saints read the Book of Mormon? And how did that book, which the Prophet Joseph Smith called “the most correct of any book on earth” and “the keystone of our religion,” help Latter-day Saints make sense of their lives? In this episode of the Maxwell Institute Podcast, Dr. Janiece Johnson, a Willes Center Research Fellow at the Institute, shares from her research into early Latter-day Saint readings of the Book of Mormon.

#6- Adam Miller discusses Letters to a Young Mormon [MIPodcast]

In this episode of the Maxwell Institute Podcast, Adam S. Miller discusses his latest book Letters to a Young Mormon. Miller spends his days teaching philosophy to college students in Texas, but the most important lessons he’s prepared have been for the benefit of his own children. He composed Letters for them and for any young Mormon who is familiar with Mormon life but green in their faith. Letters encourages Mormons young and old to live in a way that refuses to abandon either life or Mormonism. Most importantly, even while dispensing wisdom, Miller wonders alongside us readers. Learn more about Miller’s new book here, read a free excerpt at the FAIRMormon blog, or pick up a copy on Amazon today.
